Mac Vs windows PC vs You

Finally, Someone has broken down to me, A thesis on the root differences between Mac and PC!

Here is a subject that has spurred debate for a long time. I had always been subject to windows based PC’s. Me and computers are not really the best of friends. As a matter of fact, I believe I can control my emotions in many situations, But when my computer gets a virus, or icons start to flicker, something inside me gets pulled out of the abyss, and I start looking for a sledge hammer!

I have built up some kind of Love/Hate relationship with tech gadgets, and for some odd reason,  I have an attraction to multiple computers and monitors like a moth to a hot bulb!  And frankly, I’ve had enough!   I am surrounded by screens and keyboards. It feels like a hot day at the beach when the Stock trading computers are on!

I have been feeling myself building up resentment towards windows for a while, But How I usually Program out unwanted Habits, is to purposefully magnify frustrations with the “Habit” that I want to change. Then, as it builds and builds, One day, a trigger takes my frustration “Deeper” than where the habit is Anchored. This should be the final “I’m Done” moment. And the habit is replaced!

I was driving with a friend about a month ago, that I met at an entrepreneurs association group, when the subject of Mac vs PC’s came up. He said that he was talking with this tech guy who had the most clear and straight forward explanation for the Root differences b/n the 2, that he had ever heard.

Windows PC first– He said that the windows system is built like a house, where all of the interior walls, were movable and could also be customized to a great degree, to provide the perfect fit for a particular consumer. But the downside is that the ability for various software to easily come in and re-arrange the walls, Also opens the door for viruses and destruction to make its way in as well!                          Hence the need to fight to stay ahead of the virus guys.

Mac’s on the other hand, he said, Is like a house built with the interior walls, permanently in place. This makes for a more limited customization ability. But, if a virus happens to get in, It is mostly trapped inside that compartmentalized area, and doesn’t corrupt the whole house. I’m sure this is a Very loose descriptive concept, so please take it as so.

But this kind of description, really hit home with me because, for the first time, I could actually match my functional needs, with my objective of streamlining more hassles and frustrations Out of my life!

So This week, I had a guy come over to start moving my files from 9 windows computers to a Mac. Most of my friends use Mac’s, so I told them that I would order my new pen pocket protectors and a side view mirror for my sunglasses!  My wife switched over to a Mac about a year ago, and I told her, “from now on, we can only talk thru email!” (in humor)

So whats the psychology message in these two systems? It’s compartmentalization!  And here is a simple & good way to understand Compartmentalization, and why you should Program it in!

Have you ever went on a well deserved vacation, and when you pulled out of the driveway or got on the plane, You suddenly felt a sense of Relief! What actually happened to cause your daily worries to subside and be replaced with Relaxation mixed with excitement?  You are now witnessing Compartmentalization in your mind, and its benefits!

What happens is, that we have a “Continuous” flow of 150-300 “Programmed” words and phrases a “Minute”, that are running in a silent audio loop during every waking moment!  They include all your current worries, fears & excitements, that is a priority to your life!  So when you go on vacation, your conscious mind should instruct the subconscious, to put that loop of worries in a closet, so we can enjoy our time away.

Here is a Brandt rule to use as a guideline– “No matter How hectic and worrisome, your life is, You Can train it to compartmentalize, to a high degree.  And in proportion to the “level” that you section off, The byproduct will be Happiness!!”                                                                                                             An extreme example of compartmentalization, but was created by too much pain, are cases of Bi-polar, Schizophrenia and Multiple personalities.

Q- “People who Push thru Barriers, get first Dibs, And the rest get leftovers!”

Thank You, John G. Hilderbrandt
