Who do You Trust with Your Life? Who do you Talk to when the perfect storm hits? Your parents? A best friend? Your Pastor? Or does no one fit this bill?
Why is this of profound importance? Lets imagine for a minute, that all people are like a variety of Plants! Some are big, some small, some beautiful, some thorny, But what All of them have in common, is they need something to Grow “Out Of”!
Plants can Grow Out Of many things. They can Grow Out Of heavy ceramic planters, or Out Of table vases, or even some, out of water. If you want the best chances, as a plant, to Grow to your Full Potential, and have little chance of being Destroyed by the outside world, Then the Most Prime real estate out there, is the GROUND!
Most of the people in this world, “Unknowingly” Build their metaphoric Plant lives in “Leased” Pots! Within the Plant neighborhood, These mobile plants believe they have it made. They decorate their pots with the latest bling bling. Some plants spend all their waking energy, building lots of Other pots to make them feel more important, or to enlist Envy in others! And those wild care-free plants that have layers of Bead necklaces hanging all over, to throw to passerby’s, when they see a nice set of Leaves! Then there’s the Others, The ones who are mad, that they are still in those paper thin pots, sold at the store! So at night, they run to seek revenge, by tipping over all the tall, skinny pots, who think their leaves don’t stink!
On the other hand, There are a few scattered Oddball Plants, seemingly quiet and low key, That do Not Live in pots! They are actually Growing right out of the Ground! These are called the “Growers”. From the outside looking in,These Plants are a tad confusing to understand. On One hand, The “Potters” poke fun here and there, about “what appears” to be the “Growers” simple lifestyle. On the other hand, When a tragedy strikes any of the “Potters”, You can sometimes see, after dark, A “Potter” Parked out back of a “Grower”.
On occasion, when the neighborhood gets together to socialize, The “Growers”, sooner or later, Always manage to start talking about How Great, and How good it Feels, to let their Roots grow waaay down deep into the ground! Their most famous line, is to try convince the “Potters”, that, If you Ditch the man-made house of clay, and borough into the Original soil, in which your ancestors seeds were created, Then, as your roots grow deeper, You become happier and stronger, up in the Outside World! As a matter of fact, This may sound crazy, But, those who are Rooted in Solid Ground, Never have to “Work” for nourishment, Happiness or Protection, because, here in the Ground, is the Source, from which Everything Grows!
The “potters”, Truely believe that they have access to these sources. And they absolutely Do! The Only difference, is the “Potters” have to work Like “hell” to consistently transport these resources from the ground. You have to always Hope the Wholesalers get it to the Retailers, then you need to bring it home and store it. By this time, your so stressed and worn out, that the Enjoyment, “Feels” as tho it is in need of some spicing up! So off again they go, working hard, to spice up life! Meanwhile, getting more & more stressed, which creates the need for even more spices! Wow! it Still “Feels like it needs more spice! Around and around believing it’s a new problem, never realizing that, The more stressed and tired you get, the more “Things” you have to pursue or purchase, or Use the Flesh to Keep it Fresh, Just to add, to that never ending, Spice to Life!
The moral of this story, which is just like Gravity, Which is extremely Complicated at it’s Roots, But infinitely simple in it’s Effects!
We are all experts in building our own custom Lives. But every house of Life Must be “Anchored” in Something!
“Anchor” = “Source of energy for life”
The question remains, Is it anchored in Solid Ground? Or something that can be Taken away, Leaving One Naked and Afraid.
To the Couple; Who’s Anchors are in each other – What happens when one passes?
To the Workaholic; What happens when you can No longer Work?
To the Popular Millionaire; What happens if it disappears?
To the Family Man; What happens if All is lost?
What Happens is This! One of 3 Things–
1) They Die!
2) Or Build a new Anchor to Suffer in Later!
3) Or They Anchor to the Source!
