Compounding Relationships

Thank You! If you don’t mind, I am going to copy your comment and talk about it as a blog post.

Comment:  “Greetings! Very helpful advice in this particular article!
It is the little changes which will make the greatest
changes. Many thanks for sharing!

Reply– The wisdom in your comment could be life changing for people who will trust enough to heed it. And the part I’m talking about is “The Little Changes”. This phrase is the Seed which grows by the nature of a Brandt “foundational Law”, written in the post titled, “Stocks are just like People”.

Here is an example scenario that involves a business person utilizing this “little” Law that enables Big changes.

Stewart and Bob are both starting a carpet cleaning business at the same time, and both are equal in all ways, except one. Bob is an average guy, with an average “good day/bad day” personality.  Stewart is a happy go lucky guy, who stays mostly happy and energetic.

The first month, bob cleans 10 carpets, and out of those 10, he was in a good mood 5 out of 10 jobs. Stewart was happy on the job, 9 out of 10 times. We know as a fact, that smiles and good moods are contagious to people in “mood limbo”. So out of, 9 good interactions with Stewart, say that just 3 customers were moved enough to refer a friend to have their carpets cleaned.  And with Bob, just 1 person was moved enough to refer to a friend.

So in one month, Stewart received only 2 more referrals than Bob. Now Use that “2 more” calculation in the compounding formula and work that into about 5 years of service and see how something as simple as a good cheerful mood, can mean the difference between success & mediocrity.

I have had many huge Epiphanies about concepts and ideas, But Every so often, I get hit with a “ground breaker”, and “earth shaker”, an idea which connects you to your Maker!  And here is one, which I call, one of my Holy Grail Laws. it is “Relationships”

–“True Quality of life hinges on our perception of Relationships”. Look at this from a typical business perspective –Relationships as like the branches of an Oak tree, in which you are the Trunk. You have your inner circle, which is the main thick branches. The branches off that, are compounded in number from the other. The compounding keeps going until you reach the hundreds of thousands of beautiful leaves, which do nothing but proudly display, how Awesome you are, and how good you take care of them!

So in this regard, the old adage is true,- You Can “judge a book by it’s cover”, When the cover consists of relationships, Which are visible for all to see!

So the next time, you are meeting with a client, or preparing an estimate, or even giving some advice, in which you will see no benefit, Think of that “tiny” little seed, in the form of a smile, Which Just might, grow to become Your biggest Branch!

I tell you the truth, when I say, that, All of my Biggest alliances, have started, with me reaching out to help someone else in their business, and to start with, You can see, that they are waiting for the punchline, or a request of some kind. And when I have none, You can taste the ripeness, of what a true relationship feels like!

Do Business, make Friends, Share Life!

Thank You,    John Hilderbrandt
